Our exterior painting process

Most of an exterior repaint is prep, not painting. Here is every step we take on a Memphis home, in order — this is the same process whether the job is $2,400 or $12,000.

  1. 1

Pressure wash to remove mildew, chalking, and dirt

We wash every surface to strip off mildew, chalking, and grime. Paint over a dirty surface fails early — this step is where a repaint's lifespan starts.

  2. 2

Scrape and sand loose paint, then spot-prime bare wood

Loose and peeling paint comes off with scrapers and sanders, and bare wood gets spot-primed so the new coats bond evenly instead of flaking off with the old.

  3. 3

Caulk gaps around trim, windows, and doors

Gaps around trim, windows, and doors get sealed. It keeps water out of your walls and makes every trim line look crisp.

  4. 4

Two finish coats of exterior-grade paint

Two full coats of exterior-grade paint, matched to your siding. Two coats is what gets a Memphis repaint through the humidity, storms, and sun for years.

  5. 5

Final walkthrough with you before we call it done

We walk the whole house with you before we pack up. Anything you spot, we fix on the spot — that's when we get paid, not before.
